About

Dial 251 for Jazz (aka Dial 251) emerged from the vibrant jazz jams of Washington, DC. Shortly after its first performance, at a Maryland jazz festival in September 2014, the group performed monthly for more than a year at Takoma Station Tavern (Tacoma Park, MD).  Following a sold-out show at the Corner Store Arts Center on DC’s Capitol Hill in early 2015, the band began a monthly run of first-Friday performances at Mr. Henry’s Restaurant, a historic venue on Pennsylvania Avenue just a short distance from the U.S. Capitol; that engagement remains ongoing.

Dial 251 performs about two weekends a year at Washington’s iconic Twins Jazz supper club, a “listening room” known for its discerning audiences. At a recent Twins show, a reviewer from The Washington Post called the band “crisp,” the musicians “gifted soloists,” and the performance “ambitious and rewarding.” The band also has performed twice at the DC Jazz Festival and the U.S. Botanic Garden as well as at the most recent National Cherry Blossom Festival. In addition, Dial 251 performs at private events, such as the awards dinner of the World Vaccine Congress (held at the Grand Hyatt Washington in 2016).   Band video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4tlsZ05dmE
